Plotter Patterns Cutting Too Large or Too Small? Try Adjusting Your Resolution
Plotter Patterns Cutting Too Large or Too Small? Try Adjusting Your Resolution
If your patterns are consistently cutting the wrong size, especially too large, this is often a resolution setting issue rather than a hardware problem, and it's particularly common on non-Japanese cutters. FlexCut software defaults its resolution values to what a Japanese-brand cutter expects, but other cutters often need that value scaled down to cut patterns at the correct size.
How to Fix It
In FlexCut, open the driver settings and click Configure, then Advanced, then the Resolution tab. You'll see separate X and Y axis values, typically defaulted to 40. Change both the X and Y values to 39.37, then set and save this as the default for your plotter. This single adjustment resolves oversized patterns in the large majority of cases.
If patterns are still off after trying this, contact support for further help dialing in the exact resolution value your setup needs.
