Setting Up a Google Business Profile for Your Tint Shop
Setting Up a Google Business Profile for Your Tint Shop
When someone searches "window tint near me," a well-maintained Google Business Profile is often what determines whether they find your shop or a competitor's.
Getting Started
Claim your business at google.com/business if you haven't already. You'll need to verify ownership, usually by mail, phone, or email, depending on your business type.
What to Fill Out Completely
- Business category: choose the most accurate primary category (such as "Window Tinting Service") plus any relevant secondary categories.
- Hours: keep these accurate and up to date, including holiday hours.
- Service area: especially important if you offer mobile tinting.
- Photos: upload real photos of your shop, your work, and your team. Listings with more photos tend to get more engagement.
- Services: list out specific services (automotive tint, architectural tint, PPF, ceramic coatings) so you show up for more specific searches.
Reviews Matter More Than Almost Anything Else
A steady stream of recent, genuine reviews is one of the strongest local search ranking factors, and it's what a customer reads before ever calling you. Make it a habit to ask satisfied customers for a review right after a job, when the experience is freshest.
Use Posts to Stay Visible
Google Business Profile lets you publish short posts directly to your listing — a seasonal promotion, a recent before/after, or a reminder about a service. Posts appear directly in your listing and give searchers a reason to click through rather than move on to a competitor.
Fill Out the Q&A Section Proactively
Anyone can ask a public question on your profile, and anyone can answer it — including a competitor with bad information. Seed the Q&A section yourself with the questions customers actually ask (do you offer mobile service, how long does an appointment take, do you do fleet or commercial work) so accurate answers are already there.
Use Messaging and Booking Features
If your profile supports direct messaging or an appointment link, turn it on and monitor it. Some customers will message before they'll call, and a slow or missing response there is a lost lead.
Keep It Active
Profiles that post updates, respond to reviews, and add new photos periodically tend to perform better than ones that are set up once and never touched again. Even a quick monthly update showing recent work helps keep the listing active.
