How Do Safety and Security Window Films Differ from Standard Architectural Films?
Standard architectural films are primarily built around solar control and aesthetics — managing heat, glare, and privacy. Safety and security films like Safetyflex are engineered first and foremost to hold glass together after it breaks.
To do that, they’re typically thicker than solar control or decorative films and use a more aggressive adhesive system, so the film-to-glass bond stays intact even after the glass itself has shattered. That added thickness and adhesive strength is what helps reduce injury risk from flying glass and can slow down forced entry, particularly when paired with a proper attachment system.
Safety and security film is not bullet-resistant, and shouldn’t be represented as such. Its role is to delay entry and reduce injury from broken glass — not to stop projectiles.
