Customer Intake and Consultation Checklist
Customer Intake and Consultation Checklist
A consistent set of questions at the start of every consultation helps you quote accurately, avoid surprises mid-job, and make the customer feel like their specific situation was actually considered.
For Automotive Jobs
- Vehicle year, make, and model — affects glass shape, curvature, and pre-cut pattern availability.
- Which windows are they interested in (full car, front two, windshield, etc.)?
- Do they have a shade preference, or do they need help choosing based on local tint laws?
- What's their main priority — heat, privacy, appearance, or budget? (This shapes which film you lead with — see our guide on selling with a good/better/best/premium framework.)
- Any existing tint that needs to be removed first?
- Any known issues with the vehicle's window mechanisms, aftermarket tint, or existing damage?
For Architectural Jobs
- Glass type and configuration, if known (single/dual pane, Low-E, laminated) — see our film-to-glass compatibility resources if this isn't already known.
- Primary goal: heat reduction, glare, privacy, appearance, or security.
- Approximate square footage and number of windows.
- Building type and whether it's residential or commercial.
- Any HOA, landlord, or building management restrictions on window film.
General Questions Worth Asking Every Customer
- How did they hear about you? (Useful for tracking which marketing and referral sources are working.)
- What's their timeline?
- Have they had film installed before, and if so, was the experience positive?
Why This Matters
A structured intake avoids the two most common causes of comebacks and disputes: quoting the wrong scope of work, and installing a film that doesn't match what the customer actually wanted.
