Nanoflex: Tint vs No Tint

We put our Nanoflex ceramic film to the test with the most apples-to-apples comparison we could dream up: two nearly identical Tesla Model S sedans baking in southern sunshine—one fully tinted (70 % Nanoflex on the windshield, 50 % on every other window) and one bone-stock from the factory.

The Experiment in a Nutshell

• Goal · Compare how quickly and how efficiently each car’s A/C reaches 74 °F and how many fan bars it needs to hold that temp

Why Fan Bars Matter

Tesla’s climate control uses a bar graph (0–10) to show blower speed. Fewer bars = less electrical draw = longer range and less cabin noise. We recorded:

• Peak bars when AUTO first kicked in
• Time to hit 74 °F
• Steady-state bars needed to maintain 74 °F for 5 minutes

Results

What It Means on the Road

• Lower starting temp · Nanoflex knocked a few degrees off the initial oven effect.
• 50 % faster cool-down · Cabin comfort arrived in just over three minutes vs. almost six.
• Half the blower speed · Holding 74 °F required only 3 bars—meaning quieter rides and less battery drain.
